BPC Highways
1. Reporting Highways Issues - Please continue to report highways issues – potholes, flooding, damaged signs, hedge encroachment to Hampshire County Council:
Report a road problem | Hampshire County Council (hants.gov.uk)
HCC have a Mobile App that may be useful – OurHants App is available for Android and Iphone.
Scheduled repairs have been delayed in some cases, apparently because of the protracted closure of Boldre Lane, in October. The wet conditions now make it more difficult to produce effective, lasting fixes. Flooding has emerged again as a problem – some work has been done in Royden Lane, it may have some benefit.
Many issues of hedge encroachment have been addressed by landowners. The Highways Group has been seeking to ‘nudge’ others into acting, but we cannot be seen as ‘touting’ for business, so care is needed. We have also received a number of complaints about ‘aggressive’ letters from HCC about overgrown hedges – some of which have been trimmed already, some belong to other properties.
2, Footpaths - The Highways Group has reached out to the landowner regarding F11. This footpath has deteriorated sharply during the wet weather; the hope is that the problem can be addressed. We await a response.
3. S I D – BPC has requested that the Clerk apply for funding for 2 devices to be deployed in Boldre. This may allow us to address the problem of motorists speeding on local roads, by encouraging responsible behaviour. The competitive grant application is to an allocation made available by the local Police and Crime Commissioner.
Please continue to report road and path problems to HCC.
Hampshire Alert
Hampshire Alert is a free messaging service that allows Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary, Neighbourhood Watch and other partner organisations keep you informed about issues in your area that are relevant to you.
Once signed up you'll receive messages about crime, witness appeals and general policing activity and issues in your local area and being able to play an active part in helping make Hampshire and the Isle of Wight a safer place to live and work.
Pavilion and Football pitches
If you’re part of a group that might benefit from an outdoor exercise class or wants to use the pavilion as a hub for training, consider reaching out to the Clerk with your suggestions. The Pavilion is an excellent spot for hosting events or classes, offering access to toilets, showers, and a simple kitchen. Whether you have a new idea for using the space or belong to a group looking for a venue—occasionally or regularly—the Pavilion can accommodate your needs.
Recreation Ground
The Council would like to remind that both the recreation ground and the play areas are dog free zones. This is to protect the health of our children and users of the sports ground.
The Council has opportunities for volunteers for tree watering, youth services, community Speedwatch and fundraising.
