Bridge Report October 2025
Parish Christmas Open Evening 1st December from 18.00
Boldre Parish Council welcomes you to join them for an open evening at Boldre War Memorial Hall from 18.00.
Come along to find out our plans for the coming year.
More details to follow.
Recreation Ground
The Council have been really pleased that Community Payback have undertaken a schedule of external refurbishment of the Pavillion giving is a fresh coat of paint. We are grateful for this service.
This month saw the introduction of the Recreation Ground Community Orchard Board which will be an information board for years to come. Thanks to Hampshire Tree Partnership for this, and the trees. Again, thank you to the volunteers who have been looking after the trees over the summer.
The table tennis table continues to be a hugely popular item in the play area. With thanks to all for respecting the bat and ball store provided free of charge for users of the park.
The Council would like to remind that both the recreation ground and the play areas are dog free zones. This is to protect the health of our children and users of the sports ground.
BPC Highways
Potholes: A large number of potholes have been reported to HCC recently. Many of these have been addressed. However, Pilley Hill has a significant number of severe potholes which were notified during the summer, and marked up, but they have not been repaired. As the autumn progresses the possibility of an effective repair will diminish. We have contacted our HCC Representative (Cllr Dunning) asking for his support in expediting the repairs.
Encroachment of Hedges - please note any significant encroachment issues and let the Highways Group know the location & landowner. Our approach will be to encourage a positive response. Initially, as in recent years, we will seek to talk with the property owner, explaining their responsibility. BPC may deliver a letter to the landowner outlining their responsibilities and requesting the issue is addressed; the letter will also indicate that the encroachment problem may be referred to HCC for further action. (Please urge residents who raise the issue with you to also report the problem and location to HCC on their website).
Countryside Services have responded to our request to do repair work on F33 (Church Lane to Rodlease Lane). This is scheduled for October 8th. Currently the Rights of Way Officer post for our area is vacant, which may impact on the service they provide.
Shallows Lane – Community Payback returned to work at the Shallows during September. They were able to remedy the damage done by some heavy rains in August and early September. Their work on this project has been excellent. Please let the Highways Group know if your footpaths could be viable workplaces for the CP Team.
Lengthsman Scheme – Paul Tanner has done some excellent work to provide additional security on the vehicle access to the Recreation Ground.
Please continue to report road and path problems to HCC.

The Council are about to explore a scheme to survey the parish to determine the needs for affordable housing in the Parish. More details of this will follow in coming months.
Funding for Community Groups
NFDC have a grant scheme open until the 31st October. The community grants scheme provides financial support to local organisations that deliver services, activities or facilities which benefit residents and contribute to the wellbeing of communities across the district.
Pavilion and Football pitches
Do you have a group that could use the pavilion for an outside exercise class or use it as a base for some outdoor training? Contact the Clerk with your proposals.
The Pavilion is a great location for an event or a class. There are toilets, showers and a basic kitchen area. Do you have an idea for its use? Are you part of a regular group that could do with an occasional or regular venue?
The Council is focused upon delivering the best service to the Parish. If you are interested in becoming a Parish Councillor or a Council Volunteer please get in touch.
The Council has opportunities for volunteers for tree watering, youth services, community Speedwatch and fundraising.
