HCC - Boundary Review - Additional Consultation Phase

As you may be aware, the Local Government Boundary Commission is carrying out an electoral review of Hampshire County Council. The previous recommendation of this group is to attach Boldre Parish to the constituency of the County Councillor for Lymington. This was objected to by the Parish Council and a petition has been started at Pilley Community Store to gather community support for this position.

The Commission has now decided to hold an additional phase of public consultation before finalizing electoral division boundaries for Hampshire.

On 10 May 2016, the Commission will open a new phase of consultation on recommendations for Havant and New Forest. The consultation will close on 6 June 2016. The new recommendations for Havant and New Forest will be published on the Commission's website ( for public comment. On completion of the consultation, the Commission will draw up its final recommendations for the whole county and publish them on 16 August 2016. The new boundaries will come into effect, as planned, at the county council elections in 2017.

Boldre Parish Council will again be strongly objecting to any proposal that reduces the number of county divisions covering the New Forest or results in Boldre Parish being joined with Lymington. We would strongly encourage all parishioners to sign the petition at Pilley Community Stores or provide direct feedback to the Clerk using the "Contact Us" page on this website so that this can be included in our response.

As soon as we have further information on the new Boundary Commission proposal we will post it on this website. The current review details can be found here:

Hampshire County Council - Boundary Review

At the recent Annual Assembly, concerns were raised by residents about the electoral division boundary review currently being performed by the Local Government Boundary Commission. The current recommendation of this group is to attach Boldre Parish to the constituency of the County Councillor for Lymington. The Parish Council has strongly objected to the proposal and this position has been supported by Ken Thornber our current Hampshire County Representative.

Further details of the current proposal can be found here:

On 14th December 2015 Boldre Parish Council passed unanimously the following proposition:

“That this Council:

1.       Objects to any reduction in the number of county divisions covering the New Forest and,

2.       Strongly objects to Boldre Parish being joined with Lymington as a single county council division.”

The formal consultation process on this has now closed but if you would like to comment on this issue, please contact us using the "Contact Us" form on the website and we shall ensure that your views are passed on.
