The Parish Annual Assembly was held on the 17th of April. The chair reflected on the last year of activity for the council, which included successfully running the Jubilee celebrations, completing the funding for the play area and the creation of an emergency plan for the Parish. With the elections being held in May, plans over the next 12 months will be decided by the new council, but they will include the completion of the play area.
On the subject of the elections, six people stood as Councillors for a possible ten vacancies. As such, the election was uncontested. Four current Councillors did not stand at the election and the council would like to thank Patrick Kempe, Eileen Morton, Jacqui England and Oliver Moore for their contribution over the last electoral period. The Council is actively looking for new Councillors to co-opt. If you’re interested in joining the Parish Council please contact the Clerk for details. It’s a great opportunity to get involved in the community and help with a range of projects.
At the Parish Council meeting on the 20th April, the Council was pleased to hear that the work has started on the play area. It is hoped that the works will be completed by the middle of May, though this will depend on the weather. It’s very exciting to see this project coming to completion!
The Council discussed the road conditions and parking issues at Tanners Lane. The Council agreed that their objectives for this area are to work with Hampshire Highways to repair the road surface and yellow lines, add signage regarding emergency vehicle access and work with the Police to enforce the road markings. The council will also see if there are any options to improve the parking at the foreshore.
Due to the additional May bank holiday, the date for the next Parish Council meeting is 15th April at 18:30. This will be an in-person meeting with the option for members of the public to attend via Zoom. Members of the public are welcome to attend in person but will be required to follow COVID restrictions or recommended advice when doing so.
