BPC were please to hear that the construction of the new hall to house Pilley Community Stores is due to commence in early November. This will mean that the play area next to the hall will be closed on November 1st and removed during that week by the Parish Council. It is planned that we will move one set of swings from the existing play park to nearer to the kick wall as a temporary installation. These swings will have cradle seats suitable for toddlers. Unfortunately, the other play equipment is not sufficiently robust to be moved and reinstated. Though we know the play area will be missed, we look forward to having a brand new installation in 2022.
BPC approved funding for the Parish lengthsman to tidy the area around the South Baddesley war memorial. This has become somewhat overgrown, and the lengthsman will look to cut back the vegetation around the memorial as well as making repairs to the fencing. It is hoped that this work will be completed in advance of Remembrance day.
BPC have had a request from East Boldre Parish Council to join with them and purchase a Speed Camera to be shared between speed watch groups in both Parishes. BPC received this request positively but requested further information on whether this will provide additional flexibility on where the Police advise that speed cameras can be used across the wider Parish. Councillors were also interested to understand if the new device would allow local speedwatch groups to perform more monitoring sessions than the existing equipment permits. BPC will be looking to work with the Boldre community speedwatch group to get more information on the proposal.
The date for the next Parish Council meeting is November 8th. This will be an in-person meeting as it is no longer possible for Councillors or the Public to participate remotely due to Government legislation. Members of the public are welcome to attend but will be required to follow COVID restrictions or recommended advice when doing so.
