Hampshire County Council have informed us that they are planning to undertake emergency repair works at Holmsley Rail Bridge. The bridge carries the A35 Lyndhurst to Christchurch road over the Burley to Sway/Brockenhurst, adjacent to the former Holmsley railway station, now The Old Station Tea Rooms. Please find attached a plan showing the site location.
Subject to obtaining Natural England consent in good time, the high priority repair works estimated starting date is 14.08.2018 and will last approx. two weeks. The proposed traffic management for safe completion of the proposed high priority repair works requires:
·         C10 (road under the bridge) traffic lights with lane closure on 16,17,23,24,28 August
·         C10 (road under the bridge)  full closure with diversion route in place on 14,15,20,21,22 August. Please refer to the proposed diversion route attached to this email.
Traffic on A35 will not be affected by these works.
The proposed high priority repair works are necessary to keep the bridge open while the bridge replacement scheme is being prepared. Every effort is being made to limit the road closures, particularly during the height of the tourist season, while ensuring that the Contractor is able to carry out the works safely in accordance with Health and Safety regulations.
